PROTOTYPING - WIREFRAME - DASHBOARDS

Case Study: UWO Residence Life

One of my first big projects to untangle the UWO Res Life websites. This site is made to get students set with housing for their first two years at UWO. I started the process with a kickoff call where we discussed goals and current pain points of their site. To start this process, I began wireframing the homepage. My goal was to create a luxury hotel style user expereience. I made the navigation easier and moved to a funnel approach by putting all things for students under students, etc. All pages that were part of the housing site were prototyped and wireframed in Adobe XD.

User Tested / User Approved

Once the prototype was created, I collaborated with Resdience Life to create a set of questions to reflect current frustrations for users. Google Analytics was used to find out which pages were used most frequently and those paths were made easier. Questions were created for each user set we were interested in surveying. These questions were used to judge how easily information could be found and find if our storyboard and process flows were effective. Based on feedback from students, parents, and staff we made agile changes. Once the new changes were made we were ready to design.

Finalized Web Design

I implemented each page in the DIVI WordPress Builder with the planned navigation. A consistent footer was created with global updating set for easy editing for admins. The results have been fantastic. User engagement and accessibility have been improved as all text that was previously baked into images, are now dynamic and easily read by screenreaders. Mobile and tablet views were crucial to making this design a success. Finally, I trained the WordPress

Sturdy Foundations

Putting a strategy in place before design is fundamental to the success of a website. I worked with a tax strategy team in the early stages of their site. We needed three distinct journeys: New User, Paid Subscriber and Admin. A prototype was wireframed and design adjustments were made in tandem with customer feedback.
